Niko San Peponita has been an exceptional sire of very good minded and well built horses. You’ll find “Willy’s” offspring doing ranch work, as 4-H horses, rope horses, and cowhorses. Tim O’Byrne once wrote and article for the Western Horseman Magazine on the OH Ranch at Longview, AB. He mentions how this green broke gelding handled doctoring a cow with grace and willingness, as though he’d done it many times. He was talking about a gelding sired by Niko San Peponita.

Niko San Peponita is also the sire of Leos Little Country, a gelding we raised and Danny and Carolyn trained. Carolyn showed him successfully in the Alberta Reined Cow Horse Association as well as the 2002 Calgary Stampede Non Pro Working Cow Horse Reserve Champion. He wasn’t just a show horse though. From a 3yr old and on, Danny elk hunted off of him and he was used extensively as a ranch horse in all aspects of ranch work. Recently, the Mcleans’s from Okotoks have been riding their young geldings by Niko San Peponita. Conor explained how on the 3rd ride, he rode the young gelding out on a lease pasture, and how nice minded and good he was to start. We consistently hear stories back like this about Niko San Peponita’s offspring and it makes what we are doing so worthwhile! We have kept back many of Niko San Peponita’s good fillies, and they are now proving to be some of our best producing broodmares.
