We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to own an exceptional individual as Boonlight Bar. In addition to his royal pedigree, his conformation, bone, foot, and athleticism is something that is hard to find in one horse. Boon is known for stamping his foals with style, athleticism, and a large percentage of color as a bonus. We have had several people bring mares to breed to him and mention that he is one of the nicest “Pepto’s” that they have seen.
In the fall of 2010, Boon came down with a very severe case of colic, and had to be euthanized. This was devistating to us as he was a young horse and had a very large impact in our breeding program, as all of our stallions do.
As his gift to us, we believe, he left us with his most outstanding foal crop in 2011 to date, which will be his last. Absolutely ever colt and filly is gorgeous and outstanding and, of course, nearly 100% color.
As a sire, he is just coming on. 2010 marked the first year for one of his offspring to enter the cowhorse arena. Barroom Boon (out of Barroom O Lea) was trained and shown by Tyler Albrecht for the 2010 Limited Open Cowhorse Futurities and did very well. Tyler and “Jr.” started out 2011 by winning the Limited Open Cowtown Derby in Claresholm, AB, and will be competing in more derbys this year.
Foals sired by Boonlight Bar are Canadian Supreme eligible.
